Ripple Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 24, 2026
Ripple is an app that lets you send someone a short, kind message without saying who it's from. Ripple is operated by Hunting Positivity LLC ("Hunting Positivity," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain language.
The short version: we collect what we need to run Ripple. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and there are no advertising or analytics trackers in the app.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your phone number and/or email address, and your name. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the name and email address they share with us.
- Profile: the display name you choose.
- Messages you send ("Ripples"): the message text, the recipient's name (as saved in your contacts) and phone number, and when it was sent.
- Purchases: what you bought and when. Payment details are handled by Apple or Google, never by us.
Information from your device
- Contacts (only with your permission): Ripple reads the names and phone numbers in your address book *on your device* to show you a list to choose from. Your address book is not uploaded to us. Only the name and number of the person you actually send a Ripple to are sent to our servers.
- Recent recipients: a short list of people you've recently sent to is kept on your device only.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and account activity: your sending streak and the time of your last send.
- Technical data for abuse prevention: to stop spam and attacks, we briefly record how often requests come from your account or IP address. These records are short-lived.
- Safety review results: the outcome of our automated content check on each message (see section 4).
Information about people who receive Ripples
If someone sends you a Ripple, we hold your phone number, the message, and whether and when it was opened, even if you've never used Ripple. If you use Ripple yourself, ripples sent to your verified number appear in your Received tab.
2. How we use information
- To create your account, sign you in, and send you verification codes.
- To deliver your Ripples by text message and show you your sent and received Ripples.
- To review messages for harassment, threats, sexual content, and personal information before they're delivered.
- To prevent abuse, enforce our rules, and keep Ripple safe.
- To process purchases and unlock features you've paid for.
- To provide support, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising or sell it.
3. Anonymity: what recipients can and can't see
Ripples are anonymous to the person who receives them. We never show a recipient the sender's name or phone number. However:
- We can link a Ripple to the account that sent it. We keep that link so we can enforce our rules and respond to abuse.
- Recipients can pay to see "clues." The optional clues feature gives a recipient hints about who might have sent a Ripple, based on limited information about the sender. It is designed to give hints, not to state the sender's identity outright.
- We may disclose information where we're legally required to, or where needed to protect someone's safety or rights.
- A recipient who knows you may guess who sent a Ripple from its content. Keep that in mind when you write.
4. Automated content review
Before a Ripple is delivered, the message text is checked automatically for harassment, threats, sexual content, and personal information. This check is performed by a third-party AI service (Anthropic), which receives the message text — not your name or contact details — for this purpose. Messages that fail the check are not delivered, and the sender is asked to reword them.
5. Who we share information with
We use trusted service providers to run Ripple. They may process your information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — database, sign-in, and server hosting.
- Twilio — delivering text messages and sign-in codes.
- Resend — sending sign-in and confirmation emails.
- Anthropic — automated content review of message text.
- RevenueCat, Apple, and Google — in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your account identifier and purchase information.
- Google and Apple — if you choose "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Apple."
- Our web hosting provider — hosts the web page recipients open from a text message.
We may also share information if required by law, to protect safety or rights, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (we'd tell you first if it affected your data).
6. Text messages
Ripple sends a text message to the person you choose, containing a link to your Ripple. Text messages from Ripple are sent because a Ripple user asked us to deliver a message — they aren't marketing. A recipient can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts from us, and can use the "Stop receiving Ripples" option on the message page to block that sender. Message and data rates may apply. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers, or text-message opt-in data and consent, with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with the service providers listed in section 5, solely to deliver messages and verification codes.
7. Contacts permission
We only ask for access to your contacts so you can choose who to send a Ripple to. You can turn this off at any time in your device's Settings; you just won't be able to pick people from your address book.
8. How long we keep information and how to delete it
- Ripples (messages): deleted automatically 60 days after they are sent, for both the sender and the recipient. After that, the message and any clue unlocks tied to it are gone.
- Account data: we keep your profile while your account is active.
- Abuse-prevention records: kept only briefly.
- Deleting your account: go to Settings → Delete account in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent. It removes your profile, your sign-in details, your streak, and every Ripple you've sent (which will also disappear for the people who received them). It also removes your purchase-history record in RevenueCat. It does not cancel an active subscription — you'll need to cancel that yourself through your Apple ID subscriptions, and the app reminds you.
- What remains after deletion: Ripples other people sent *to* you stay in their Sent history, but your phone number is removed from them and replaced with a random placeholder. If you had ever chosen "Stop receiving Ripples" from a specific sender, we keep that opt-out record so we can keep honoring it. You can also email us at contact@huntingpositivity.com to delete your account or ask about your data.
- If you've received a Ripple and never used Ripple: email us at contact@huntingpositivity.com and we'll remove your number and the messages sent to it.
9. Your choices and rights
You can access, correct, or delete much of your information yourself in the app (Profile and Settings). You can also email contact@huntingpositivity.com to ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Economic Area), you may have additional legal rights over your personal information, including the right to object to or limit certain uses, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We don't sell or "share" personal information for cross-context advertising.
10. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and rate limiting to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
Ripple is not intended for anyone under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under that age. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
12. International use
We are based in the United States, and our providers may process information in the U.S. and other countries. If you use Ripple from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
